How scary is Alone in the Dark?
Watching this feels less like horror and more like a clumsy action movie that occasionally remembers it's supposed to be scary. The pace is choppy, jumping between gunfights, monster attacks, and exposition dumps with little atmosphere or build-up in between. Any tension comes from creature attacks and shootouts rather than dread or mind games, and the scares feel more like action-movie jolts than real fear. It's more of a so-bad-it's-fun watch than anything that will actually unsettle you.
On The Horror Database's 0–5 scare profile, Alone in the Dark rates psychological 1/5, visceral 3/5, gore 2/5, lingering effect 1/5, and overall intensity 2/5.
