At a remote Arctic research station, four ecology students discover the real horror of global warming is not the melting ice, but what's frozen within it. A prehistoric parasite is released from the carcass of a Woolly Mammoth upon the unsuspecting students who are forced to quarantine and make necessary sacrifices, or risk infecting the rest of the world.

How The Thaw scares
There's a queasy, crawling-skin feeling running through this one, the kind of horror that makes you itch rather than jump. Set at a frozen, cut-off research base, it builds tension through isolation and the growing sense that something is wrong inside people's bodies, not just outside in the snow. The gore leans gross and squirmy rather than stylish, with amputations and infected wounds played for shock. It's more of a nasty B-movie thrill ride than something that will actually stay with you after the credits.
