How Dreams in the Witch House scares
It starts as a moody haunted-room story about a student who can't sleep right, then slides deeper into feverish nightmare logic as the walls and dreams start blending together. The pace is uneven, low-budget TV-movie style, with stretches of slow unease broken up by sudden bursts of nasty, gooey creature effects. The threat leans more cosmic and otherworldly than 'classic witch curse,' with a gross little rat-thing and unsettling dream sacrifice imagery doing a lot of the work. It plays more like a fun, pulpy horror comic than something that will actually haunt you afterward.
