How Across the River scares
It starts almost like a nature documentary, following a lone researcher into the woods, then slowly tightens into isolation and unease as he finds himself stuck in an abandoned, half-forgotten place. The pace is patient and quiet, letting empty buildings, fog, and distant sounds do the scaring rather than sudden shocks. Dread builds through the sense of being watched and cut off from any help, more than through gore or violence. It's a good pick if you like slow, moody horror that lingers on unease rather than jolts you awake.
On The Horror Database's 0–5 scare profile, Across the River rates psychological 4/5, visceral 2/5, gore 1/5, lingering effect 3/5, and overall intensity 3/5.

How scary is Across the River?
On The Horror Database's 0–5 intensity scale, Across the River rates 3/5 — solidly scary, building its fear through slow-burn dread rather than shocks. The fear is mostly in your head — it unsettles far more than it assaults. Expect it to be restrained with gore and scary but not punishing. Some of it will follow you to bed, but it lets go within a day or so.
