Final Exam spends most of its time hanging out with a group of college students, building character moments and campus banter before the killing really ramps up. The pace is slow for a slasher, with long stretches of talk and pranks instead of constant stalking, so the tension builds gradually rather than hitting hard and fast. There's no supernatural angle here, just a masked, motiveless human threat picking off students, and the violence, when it comes, is quick and not especially bloody by slasher standards. It's more of a low-key, old-school slasher hangout movie than a nerve-shredding fright fest.
