How scary is The Silence?
It starts as a quiet family drama adjusting to a dangerous new world, then shifts into stretches of tense, hushed survival broken up by sudden creature attacks. The back half adds a human threat in the form of a menacing cult, which shakes up the pacing again. Fear here comes mostly from chases and close calls rather than deep dread, so it plays more like a tense survival thriller than a nightmare that follows you home. Good for fans of creature features and family-in-danger stories who want tension without heavy gore or lasting unease.
On The Horror Database's 0–5 scare profile, The Silence rates psychological 2/5, visceral 4/5, gore 2/5, lingering effect 1/5, and overall intensity 3/5.
