How Knock Knock scares
It opens like a slow-building seduction story before tipping into something much darker and more punishing in its back half. The first stretch is all tension and uncomfortable flirting, and once the trap closes, the movie shifts into drawn-out humiliation and psychological cruelty rather than nonstop action. There's some physical danger and rough violence later on, but the real discomfort comes from watching someone get toyed with and slowly broken down. It's more squirmy and uneasy than jump-out-of-your-seat scary, good for viewers who like tension with a mean streak rather than classic horror thrills.
