How scary is Venom?
It kicks off with a small-town setup before settling into a straightforward chase movie, with teens getting picked off one by one in swampy, dark locations. The scares lean on a hulking, unstoppable killer jumping out and closing distance fast rather than slow dread building in your head. There's some blood and rough violence, but it plays more like a quick, forgettable ride than something that stays with you. Good for a casual horror night when you just want a lurking killer and some chase scenes, not heavy atmosphere or a lasting scare.
On The Horror Database's 0–5 scare profile, Venom rates psychological 2/5, visceral 4/5, gore 3/5, lingering effect 1/5, and overall intensity 3/5.
