How Alien: Romulus scares
Watching it feels like being sealed inside a metal hallway with something breathing just out of sight, your chest tight the whole time. The pace builds slowly through creeping dread in dark corridors, then snaps into sudden bursts of frantic, physical danger once the creature shows itself. Most of the fear comes from being chased and cornered rather than mind games, and there are a few nasty, squirmy body-horror moments that catch you off guard. It's intense and gross in places, but it plays more like a tense survival ride than something that will haunt you for days.
