How scary is Trauma?
It opens as a moody mystery, easing you into the lives of its two leads before slowly tightening into a hunt for a killer, with the violence arriving in sudden, brutal bursts rather than constant action. The mood is dreamlike and a little woozy, full of rain-soaked streets and lingering close-ups, which makes the sudden bursts of violence feel even more jarring. There's real blood and a nasty central gimmick tied to the killer's method, but the bigger feeling is unease and sadness rather than pure shock. It's a good pick for fans of stylish old-school Italian horror who don't mind a slower unraveling before things turn ugly.
On The Horror Database's 0–5 scare profile, Trauma rates psychological 3/5, visceral 3/5, gore 4/5, lingering effect 3/5, and overall intensity 3/5.
