It opens like a low-key family drama about relocating for a new job, and only slowly lets the creepy doll stuff creep in once the family settles near the factory. Once the spirit takes hold, the movie shifts into a string of small, silly jolts and off-kilter doll moments rather than one long dread-filled slide.
